support fundraising

Even volunteer led charities depend to some extent on the financial support of other individuals and institutions. We have worked with loads of charities who face the same challenges.

We tend to focus on three areas:

  • Using your website to effectively support funding applications
  • Increasing online donations
  • Offering paid services online

Supporting funding applications

This is a tough one to measure. Some funders will look at your website, but others won’t. Some will rely entirely upon your laboriously prepared 30 page funding application.

However, if your website clearly communicates the positive impact of your activities this will affect your perception in the sector. No matter how large the funding institution, decision makers are always individuals, and perception counts.

International Justice Mission depends on funding from the legal sector. White Fuse has worked with IJM over the last three years to develop an online presence that supports their fundraising in this sector. Over that time their income has more than doubled.

Increasing online donations

For most charities, online donations form a small proportion of overall income. We therefore recommend that increasing online donations is approached as part of a wider communication and fundraising strategy backed up by direct mailing, special appeals, etc.

We designed an online donation section for Single Homeless Project that clearly communicates the benefits of every £1 donated.

Offering paid services online

The growing social enterprise sector demonstrates that trading services and goods does not have to be restricted to the private sector.

Community Money Advice’s website allows members to book training, purchase resources and buy annual membership online.
