What we do
At White Fuse Media we believe that good website design breaks down to four areas: design, content, interaction and strategy.
Design
Point 1 - People don’t respect you if your stuff looks rubbish. It sounds negative, but this is a crucial starting point. If your stuff looks bad then you will never get your audience to listen to you.
Point 2 – Don’t be bland. Whatever you do, don’t be bland. Be simplistic, be psychedelic; be colourful, be monochrome; be soft, be bold. Be anything but bland. You are trying to communicate something to your audience and to do this they have to listen. To listen they must be engaged. To be engaging you must stand out from the crowd.
Content
Say what you are going to say. Say it. Say it again.
Your website is probably your most prominent communication interface with the outside world. Cutting and pasting half-baked copy from an ‘about us’ leaflet published in 2005 will make your life easier but it won’t achieve your fundamental aim of communicating effectively with your audience.
In our experience at White Fuse, we suspect that you already understand this, and want your site to communicate effectively. What you lack is the time, familiarity with online communication and, perhaps, the imagination.
We love online communication. It’s what we do. Bring us into the loop.
Interaction
Give and you shall receive.
Sounds trite, eh? The point is that if your website doesn’t do anything, doesn’t offer the user anything, they won’t waste their time. They will leave dissatisfied. And what none of us want is people leaving on bad terms.
The problem is that giving people something valuable requires effort, and no-one wants to labour in vain. At White Fuse we help you interact with your audience. Gimmickry will not be tolerated, but it may be that investing a little time now will further your purpose in the long run. We will help you build meaningful interactivity into your website.
Now for the buzz-words: e-commerce, web 2.0, blogs, forums, social networking...
Let your visitors buy something, examine something, book an event, let you know what they think of you, pass comment, network. Hell, while you’re at it why not let them steal your ideas? You probably stole them from someone else anyway.
Strategy
It pays to think things through.
This stuff is rarely rocket science, but White Fuse can help you start in the right place and ask the right questions. The result is that there is much more chance that your website will make your organisation better.
It’s amazing how many people just don’t think about their website. We combine a good chunk of intelligence, experience of building lots of websites and a bit of spark to catalyse success.
